NEWARK, Calif. -- May 10, 2005 - Prolific Inc. today announced that Spansion LLC, the Flash memory venture of AMD and Fujitsu, purchased Prolific's ProGenesis® software to automate its internal development of standard-cell libraries. The software will be used to accelerate creation of standard cells for Spansion's award-winning Flash memory products.

"As Spansion expands its product portfolio, we are finding significant advantages to having control over our library IP," explained Jim Thomas, vice president of product development at Spansion. "What began as a library service deal became a software purchase when we saw ProGenesis' power and flexibility." Spansion was the world's largest supplier of NOR Flash memory products in 2004, according to iSuppli.

"ProGenesis gives us the ability to rapidly prototype, create, and customize cell libraries that are perfectly suited to the final products in which they'll be used," said Joaquin Bartra, CAD application manager at Spansion. "The tool's flexibility allows us to explore multiple options and make the right design choices."
