Prolific Automates Standard Cells at 32 Nanometers and Below ProGenesis 2007 Update Dramatically Improves Library Creation Beyond the 45-Nanometer Node NEWARK, Calif. –– October 30, 2007 – Prolific Inc. announced today a major update of its ProGenesis® standard-cell library creation software. ProGenesis 2007 expands support for complex, interacting design rules, while improving out-of-box result sizes and runtime on large cells. Increasingly complex 45-nanometer (nm) design requirements were the driving force behind many of the improvements, but Prolific's developers concentrated on adding flexibility to the tool's capabilities to accommodate the still-in-development 32-nm node, as well as even smaller technologies. Designs at all technology nodes can benefit from ProGenesis' updated capabilities, including:
“The one part of designing for the 32-nm node that won't be a headache is producing the standard cell library with ProGenesis,” said Dr. Paul de Dood, CEO of Prolific. “That part will be a slam dunk.” Along with its capabilities for handling rule setup and interactions, ProGenesis 2007 also improves its handling of transistor placement, optimizing for channel routing congestion while minimizing cell size. ProGenesis 2007 improves compaction results, including automatically determining optimal contact overlap orientation. ProGenesis also significantly improves design for manufacturability (DFM) including automatically eliminating short edges without impacting final cell size. Production libraries built with ProGenesis for 45-nm designs are already in use. The updated software also improves run times, particularly for large cells, which run up to 7 times faster than in previous versions. The new release also improves run times, particularly for large cells, which run up to 7 times faster than in previous versions. The current release, ProGenesis 2007.7, is available now. Customers with a current maintenance contract receive the upgrade without charge. A three-year, time-based license costs $450,000. About Prolific Prolific Inc.’s software enables the design of today's most demanding integrated circuits, optimizing timing, power, area, and yield, while reducing overall design time and costs.
