NEWARK, Calif. –– July 13, 2006 – Prolific Inc. will demonstrate its final-pass optimization (FPO) tools, ProPower™ and ProTiming™, during the 43rd Design Automation Conference (DAC), July 24-27 in Booth #3563 at San Francisco’s Moscone Center.

Prolific’s founder and chief executive officer, Paul de Dood, will lead a DAC hands-on tutorial titled, “Reduce Leakage Power and Increase Battery Life by Implementing an Ideal Vt Selection Strategy” on Wednesday, July 26. Dr. de Dood will lead participants through the process of optimization using ProPower during the tutorial, to be held from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. in Room 309.

ProPower runs as a final pass on digital IC designs, reducing leakage power and active power in blocks that are ready for tape-out. It produces leakage power reduction ranging from 25%-70%, even on designs that have already been optimized with other power-reduction methods and tools. In the process, ProPower ensures that the improvement in power usage does not degrade design timing.

ProTiming optimizes design timing by analyzing the critical paths and ranges in a finalized design, and then replaces cells on those critical paths to provide 10% or greater performance improvement. ProTiming produces significant and measurable incremental benefits by working in conjunction with Synopsys’ PrimeTime® and PrimeTime SI timing analysis tools.

FPO tools work at the end of the physical design flow, tuning designs for leakage power, dynamic power, and timing. These tools work with any place-and-route flow and maintain the benefits of the optimizations performed earlier in the flow, while providing benefits above and beyond those already achieved and maintaining tape-out quality.
